Embattled Daiichi Chuo continues to offload tonnage. The Japanese line, which declared bankruptcy last September, has just sold the Shining Dragon capesize to Belgian firm Ebe for US$26.5m.
The 180,200dwt ship was built in 2012 at Imabari in Japan. Online pricing portal VesselsValue.com lists the ship as worth US$26.25m.
Ebe was founded this year by Basile Aloy, part of the famous Belgian shipowning family, the Saverys.
Antwerp-headquartered Ebe has stated it is in the market for high quality dry bulk tonnage, from supramaxes to capesizes, taking advantage of today's low price environment to build up a fleet fast.
