STX Dalian Inks 2,000TEU's
STX Dalian, a subsidiary of STX Offshore & Shipbuilding of South Korea won newbuilding orders for 2+6 vessels of 2,000 teu containerships from Sea Consortium (SEACON) of Singapore, with a total of $240m of newbuilding price.
The vessels, 172m in length, 17m in height and 30m in breadth, will be built from STX Dalian shipbuilding & offshore yard and be delivered one by one from April 2013.
Officials from STX Dalian said, "STX Dalian's globally acknowledged competence helped winning new orders in a troubled boxship newbuilding market."
STX Dalian improved its productivity by building its own yard-operating-system, 'LOONG,' and now secures a total of $3.34bn of orderbook by the end of August, expecting to build over 30 ships in this year.
