Singapore-based Winning is about to snap up another two capesize vessels, according to sources. This time the Chinese firm is close to seal a deal for two five-year-old capes, the 179,000dwt Dong-A Ether and its sister ship Dong-A Leto for around US$22.5m each.

The seller of the two ships is South Korea's Dong-A Tanker, which has already sold one small tanker this year.

The active capesize specialist has purchased four other capes earlier this year.

Brokers describe Winning as one of the most acquisitive cape owners at the moment, keen to boost its bauxite business from Africa to China. Further purchases are likely soon.
