In August, new orders for LNG carriers were very active and the prices also rose by 0.55% against last month. However, newbuilding prices for tankers, bulkers, and containerships all underwent declines of different degrees.

Global new order volume in August continued the previous decreasing momentum. Totally 114 new vessels were ordered, falling by 5%. Korean, Chinese and Singaporean shipyards led the list by securing 61, 36 and 8 vessels of the total respectively, Japan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam won 4, 4 and 1 of the rest in the month.
