Star Bulk Carriers has announced the sale of five-year-old capesize Obelix for US$23.3m.

The Japanese-built vessel is expected to be delivered to an unnamed Greek buyer during the first half of 2016.

Star Bulk says it intends to use a portion of the net proceeds from the sale for repayment of the outstanding debt amount related to the vessel and the remainder for general corporate purposes.
