British cruise line company Saga Cruises has penned a contract to build a 55,900gt cruise ship at German shipyard Meyer Werft, which includes an option for an additional cruise vessel.

The cruise ship, the first newbuilding for Saga Cruises, is expected to be delivered in the summer of 2019, while the second one should join the cruise company in 2021.

Saga Cruises' new vessel will measure approximately 234 metres in length and 30.8 metres in width. It will be able to carry less than 1,000 passengers, according to the company.
