Singapore-based dry bulk owner Berge Bulk has received the second in a series of four 262,000dwt bulkers Berge Makalu from Chinese shipyardGuangzhou Shipyard International (GSI).

Scheduled to work for the Australian petroleum company BHP Billiton, Berge Makalu will carry 134,693 m3 of gross tonnage in five cargo holds on the route between the Australian port of Hedland and various ports in China.

The vessel will sail under the flag of the Isle of Man, just like its sister ship Berge K2, which was delivered to the company in September 2015.

The remaining two ships are scheduled to be delivered from GSI over the coming two years.

Berge Makalu features Samsung's energy monitoring software ENSaver, which provides a dashboard overview of all vital sensors to ensure the ship runs on optimum parameters, as well as a MAN B&W super-long stroke main engine, a rudder bulb and exhaust gas boilers in order to recover waste heat not only from the main engine, but also from both auxiliary engines.
