Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co has received an order from an unnamed German owner for up to eight 74,000dwt LR1 tankers.

As disclosed by the shipbuilder, the contract has been signed for two firm newbuildings and up to 6 additional units.

The vessels will be built in Hantong shipyard and the first vessel is scheduled for delivery in November, 2017.

The ships will be designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI) and meet the H-CSR requirements. With respect to size particulars, the tankers will feature 228m in length overall, 38m in breadth moulded, and 19.8m in depth moulded.
