Hyundai Books 41 Ships by July
South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries revealed its accumulated newbuilding order from Shipbuilding division during Jan-Jul trebles to $8.583bn from the same period last year.
Shipbuilding division already went over its target of $7.5bn by the end of June and now appears to looking for selective order with plenty orderbooks.
A total of newbuildings booked during the same period is 41 vessels, including nine drillships, 19 boxships, three tankers, four LNG carriers, three LPG carriers, two specialship and submarine, one car carrier.
Backlog in the end of July totals 186 ships, $23.6bn down by five vessels, $400m from the end of June.
Meanwhile, from Jan to Jul, Offshore & Engineering division won $323,5m of newbuilding order up by 22% on the same period 2010. However, newbuilding order seems to be stagnant, since April.
