China's Qingshan Shipyard, a subsidiary of Sinotrans Group, penned newbuilding orders for handysize bulker for the first time.
OSL Shipping of Hong Kong and Wilmar International of Singapore awarded two 35,800-dwt each totaling four ships with delivery by mid-2013.
The handysize ships, 179.9m in length, 30m in breadth, 10m in draught, is the new product for Qingshan, developed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute.
Newbuilding price seems to be $25m per vessel, however, exact price is unrevealed.
Qingshan used to build mainly handymax bulker, feeder boxships, etc. and expanded its product portfolio into handysize, which has rather stable demand.
