The tanker shipping arm of the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri), National Company for Chemicals Shipping (NCC), signed a memorandum of understanding to purchase two tankers on Thursday.

Under the deal, NCC will pay US$28.5m for each of the tankers.

The duo, MS Berganger and MS Brimanger, was previously owned by Norwegian shipping company Berganger KS, according to Bahri.

The secondhand monohull tankers were constructed at Hyundai Mipo Dock, South Korea, in 2009 and managed by Bergen-based Westfal Larsen.

They are DNV-classed tankers of IMO 2 class, and feature 46,265dwt and 46,195dwt respectively.

Bahri expects that the financial impact of the transaction will be felt during the third quarter of 2015.

National Company for Chemicals Shipping owns 24 chemicals tankers currently.
