Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering of South Korea won order for one 173,400-cbm LNG Floating Storage and Regasification Unit from Excelerate Energy in U.S.
World's largest LNG-FSRU is over $280m and will be delivered by Q1 2014. Also, newbuilding order for Excelerate's additional project is now under discussion.
Daewoo's recently ordered LNG-FSRU is based on design of its previous newbuilding of LNG-RV and it is more efficient than existing FSRUs with maximum speed of 18 knot (33.3 Km/h) and a combined use for LNG-RV.
CEO Nam Sang-Tae from Daewoo said, "With previous record of eight LNG-RVs from Excelerate in company with Exmar Offshore, confiding partnership with Excelerate achieved the newbuilding contract. Also, Daewoo would be able to pen other projects in the future, with successful new order of LNG-FSRU."
Meanwhile, Daewoo has reached 81.3% of $11bn, 2011 target order and obtained orders for ships and offshore plant totalling 40 ships of $8.94bn.
