Dutch dredging firm Jan De Nul has returned to Croatia to place an order for what will be the world's most powerful cutter section dredger.
With an installed diesel power of more than 40,000kw, the 151m long ship has beedn designed in house.
Croatia's Uljanik Shipyard is scheduled to deliver the ship in 2017. The same yard has just delivered a multipurpose vessel, Isaac Newton, to the same owner.
The cutter power amounts to 8,500kw and the cutter ladder weighs approximately 2000 tonnes.
"These figures are unrivalled and make the vessel the ultimate tool for dredging hard rock," the Dutch firm said.
