China-based yard AVIC Weihai Shipyard Co., Ltd. (AVIC) entered into a newbuilding contract with German shipowner H.VOGEMANN for the construction of 2+2+2 37,650dwt bulkers, according to a domestic shipping news portal.

The contract for the first batch of two vessels began taking effect from Feb.9.

In recent years, AVIC has been developing its flagship vessels, fostering core techniques, optimizing the designs of its mature ships, and making great efforts on niche markets, according to the report.
