Korea shipbuilding Sources reported that SPP recently inked new orders for 20 PCs of $760m from Ireland, France, Latin America and other countries. Those newbuilds are scheduled for delivery between 2013 and 2014.

It is reported that in recent years SPP greatly devoted to develop environmental-friendly and energy-efficient vessels while other Korea shipbuilding giants like Samsung and HHI were focusing on mega vessels and offshore plants. Till now, SPP has become the leader of international PC newbuilding.

According to the database of Clarkson, SPP has now ranked No. 13 in global shipbuilding industry with orderbook of 126 vessels while it was only in the global No. 44 place in 2004.
