Qingshan firms up BC options
Sinotrans & CSC Qingshan Shipyard is said to have been awarded additional order to build four 43,500 dwt bulkers from Hamburg Bulk Carriers (HBC) of Germany on December 12.
The Chinese shipbuilder inked a newbuilding contract for 3+9 units of 43,500 dwt bulker with HBC back in June this year and, recently, three options out of the nine got exercised. Including the latest exercised ones, the builder is to construct a total of 10 bulkers.
Qingshan has focused on product differentiation and structure diversification through realizing period reduction for construction and delivery along with carrying out large production as winning 70,000 dwt eco-friendly vessels. Also, constructing special ships, such as 20,000 dwt chemical tanker, LNG-propelled ship, offshore-related ship and so on, the builder is said to be trying to upgrade and convert its product structure.
