Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) from South Korea has been awarded a contract for the construction and delivery of six containerships including four optional units worth a total of USD 539 million.
The 10,000 TEU fuel-efficient Post-Panamax ships were ordered by a UK-based shipping company Zodiac Maritime and they will be on a long-term charter contract with Hyundai Merchant Marine.
DSME further revealed in a regulatory filing to the Korea Stock Exchange that it will deliver the vessels by the end of May 2016 from its Okpo shipyard.
