New Turkish shipping entrant Aruna Shipping has booked three supramax-bulker newbuildings at South Korea’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD).
Aruna deputy general manager Cengiz Bekmezci confirms the orders, which are due for delivery in August and November 2012 and March 2013.
One source close to the yard says the Turkish company booked the bulkers two months ago but the deal was not reported.
He adds that the owner is paying around $33.5m each for the 56,000-dwt newbuildings.
However, Bekmezci says the price is lower — at between $30m and $31m each, including extras.
