HHIC-Phil inks boxship order

Located in the Philippines, Subic Shipyard of Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction (HHIC-Phil) is said to have inked a newbuilding contract for a 5,400 teu containership from Korea Marine Transport.
According to broker industry, both companies entered into a newbuilding deal for around $48m and the Korean owner had previously bought a resale of the same size vessel placed at the shipyard from Bernhard Schulte of Germany, reported by TradeWinds. Both newbuildings are slated for delivery in the first half of 2014.
Meanwhile, back in November, 2012, the owner placed a newbuilding order for a 5,000 teu boxship with an option at STX Offshore & Engineering for around $44m apiece.
