KR-RS sign MOU in Seoul

Korean Register of Shipping (KR) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation with Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) towards the development of shipbuilding and offshore plant industries of both countries at 'The 6th Korea-Russia Business Dialogue' held in Lotte Hotel Seoul on November 13.

Through the MOU, both classification societies agreed on pushing ahead with
■ technical cooperation and mutual development of rules on ice breaker and ice-strengthened vessel
■ technical cooperation for LNG and Offshore in the Arctic Ocean
■ holding regular technical seminar
■ increasing consistent exchanges among CEOs
■ exchanging latest information and professionals
■ mutual assistance for capability reinforcement of shipbuilding industry and so on.

Pavel Shikov, COO of RS, said at the event, "We could arrange an opportunity for acquiring advanced technology and developing Russian shipbuilding industry," displaying expectation.

KR Chairman Chon Young-Kee said, "I am pleased that we could develop cooperation with RS which has kept friendly relationship with us so far," and added, "We will push towards exchanges of technologies and information in order to contribute to national economy as well as development of shipbuilding industries of both countries."
