Onomichi builds more 60K BC
Onomichi Dockyard of Japan is increasing its orderbook of energy-saving 60,000 dwt bulker.
Taiwan-listed bulker owner Shih Wei Navigation announced through a regulatory filing that it had booked an order for one 60,000 dwt bulker for $29m at the Japanese builder. Delivery is scheduled in the second half of 2016.
Since spring of last year when it newly developed the Ultramax design, Onomichi has bagged orders for nearly 20 units of the vessel with design alteration of existing contract, including projects booking slots in 2017.
The Ultramax-class vessel is energy-saving type, improving fuel-efficiency, for instance, by equipped with an electronically controlled engine as standard and so on. Its sale has commenced from spring in 2012, receiving new orders mainly from its existing friendly customers.
Meanwhile, Shih Wei had ordered one 37,000 dwt bulker for $23m at the same builder in April.
