Samsung Heavy Industries has won an order for an LNG carrier from Greece's GasLog for $200m.
The 155,000-cbm newbuilding, ordered from the South Korean shipbuilder, will be delivered to GasLog in March 2014, Greek shipbroker Golden Destiny said in its latest sale and purchase report.
The order is the latest in an LNG carrier newbuilding spree by GasLog.
Early this month, it was reported GasLog had ordered four new vessels of 155,000 cbm, based on a refined version of the tri-fuel diesel electric engine design.
Norway’s Golar LNG has also ordered one 160,000-cbm vessel at Samsung for $200m, with delivery also in March, Golden Destiny reported.
Golar has the option of ordering one more LNG carrier from the yard, as well as adding strengthening, winterization features to the vessels.
