Samjin Shipbuilding Industries of Korea signed a newbuilding contract for three 5,800 dwt units plus one option of chemical tanker with compatriot owner TECHMARINE on August 2.
Established in 1982, the middle standing operator TECHMARINE is currently operating three cement carriers. The company could establish a foundation for advancing into the market of small and medium sized chemical tanker through the latest contract with Samjin.
Meanwhile, the Korean builder is seeking to lead medium and large vessel sector of shipbuilding market through constructing various types of vessel. Samjin is pushing forward winning various high-value ships from the contract with TECHMARINE and previously inked contracts for 11 handysize bulk carriers featured with advanced eco-design won from quality owners in the first half of this year with other contracts for small tankers.
