Daewoo International of Korea announced on July 15 that the company and POSCO PLANTEC had jointly won a contract to construct a $30m value of passenger/cargo ship from the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar on July 12.
Having around 1,200-passenger capacity, the new passenger ship will carry passengers and cargos between Zanzibar Island and the Indian Ocean in east coast of Africa.
Daewoo and POSCO PLANTEC plans to complete the construction of the newbuild by 2015 and deliver it to the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.
POSCO-affiliated Daewoo International had won a contract to build an offshore supply vessel (OSV) last year in cooperation with companies of POSCO FAMILY from a Singaporean owner.
