Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding Co. Ltd has just won an order for the construction of 2+2 4,350TEU containerships from an unnamed foreign owner. The first vessel of the series is scheduled for delivery before June 15th, 2015.
The new units features 239.9 in length, 37.3m in breadth, 19.5m in depth, 228.0m in length between perpendiculars, 11.5m in design draft and 12.5m in structural draft.
The speed is about 20.2 knots. The new-builts are to be installed MAN G type main engines and supervised by GL.
Containership is one of Kouan’s main products. The company has successfully built 3,820TEU, 1,800TEU and 1,100TEU boxships for owner at home and abroad. The new 4,350TEU unit will a new member of the series and also the largest type ever built.
