Bulker Deliveries to Slow down
Global newbuilding bulker delivery in 2013 is expected to be greatly below expectation suggested earlier of the year.
According to the UK shipbroker Howe Robinson, the proportion of actual bulker delivery for 2013 against bulker delivery scheduled for this year is estimated to stand at around 56-75%, by types of bulkers.
Contract cancellations by yard and owners, postponement of delivery, delayed construction, etc., have caused gaps between planned delivery and actual one.
Hence, the increasing rate of bulker fleet is said to be slow down, said Howe Robinson. The broker added that growth rate of the global bulker fleet will come to just about 5%, mentioning, “There is a possibility that the growth rate of fleet demand exceeds that of fleet supply in late 2013 for the first time in five years.”
