It is reported that Japanese owner MOL is to sell two bulkers according to its plan to cut its fleet size. The company is looking for buyer for the 171,000dwt “Mona River” (built in 2000) and 87,000dwt “Brilliant Sunrise” (built in 2006).
At the beginning of this year, MOL announced that the company was to cut its own fleet by 70 vessels, including 50 bulkers. The company has sold many tankers in the past few years.
It is said that the company has just disposed of its 172,000dwt “Mona Century” (built in 2000) at a price of $16.5m. Besides, MOL sold its 2004-blt180,000dwt “Pacific Tiara” to Singapore owner Winning Shipping at a cost of $25.3m.
As part of the plan, MOL sold three VLCCs to Greek owners last week, which are all built after 2000.
