Greek owner Diana Shipping has recently purchased the 2006-built 76,900dwt “Shoyo” from Usai Kaiun at a price of $20.25m, the company announced today. The price is little higher than the previously rumored $19.6m.
The ship will be delivery to the new owner by September 2013 and be renamed as “Artemis”. This purchase has been the company’s 11th secondhand ship deal since the financial crisis.
Simeon Palios, leader of Diana Shipping, said that the company has just got supporting loan from  the Export-Import Bank of China and DNB for the two Ice-class Panamax newbuilt units placed in Jiangnan Shipyard.
The deal was part of the vessels Greek owner’s plan to buy over 100 vessels from China. The new orders all get financial support from China banks, including the two Capesize units Diana Shipping ordered at Jiangnan Shipyard.
