China's Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group’s Dayang Shipbuilding has won an order for four ultra-large handymax bulkers from London-based Ocean Agencies.
The 63,500-dwt vessels are said to be scheduled for early delivery starting in 2012.
Brokers say the ships are costing around $32.6m each. The average market price for handymax is $30m.
However, as well as the early delivery dates, Sinopacific’s new Crown design comes with 13% improved fuel efficiency and their dwt is 9% more than average supramaxes.
