Chuangdong Wins Special Tankers
China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC)-affiliated Chongqing Chuandong Shipbuilding Industry is seen to push forward with winning contracts for special tankers.
After the shipyard had inked a newbuilding contract for a 5,400 dwt product/chemical tanker plus one option with Nanjing Zhonggang Shipping on May 6, it recently won a contract to build 7,700 dwt bunkering tanker from SK Shipping of Korea.
Classified by ABS, the 7,700 dwt newbuild has 101.39 meters of length, 19.05 meters of breadth with 10.50 meters of height, equipped with 6.70 meters of design draft and 7.40 meters of construction draft.
Meanwhile, Chongqing Chuandong is a yard with the record of having newly built the largest number of small and medium sized special chemical tanker in the world and already delivered around 40 special tankers in the range of 3,000-10,000 dwt. Particularly, it boasts the world’s best newbuilding technology in the area of stainless chemical tanker.
