Daewoo Announces Boxship Deal

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering of Korea announced on May 24 through a regulatory filing that it had been awarded a contract for construction of four containerships with a price tag of KRW 378.2bn (around $340m) from an African shipowner.
The contract was signed on May 23 with a termination to be on March 19, 2015.
The contract value accounts for 2.7% of recent revenue, $85m apiece, and its vessel type is seen to be post-panamax large containership.
An official at the Korean shipbuilding conglomerate said, "This contract includes some confidential items that further details cannot be revealed," and explained, "According to standards of regulatory filing, we announced the contract of exclusive supply."
