India’s Pipavav Defence and Offshore Engineering was awarded a contract for a pair of offshore vessel from an unnamed European shipowner with a price tag of INR 5.95bn (around $107m) overall.
The order is said to contain an option for two ships. If options are exercised, total value of newbuildings ordered would amount up to INR 12bn.
Having putting more weight in offshore area moving from bulker, the Indian builder has seen growing order inquiries from global shipowners, pushing forward expanding its market share in the area.
