China's Order Intakes Fell

In April 2013, newbuilding prices of tankers in Chinese shipbuilding industry are said to have a bit decreased while the ones of bulker and containership showed a slight increase.
According to data published in the Shipping Exchange Bulletin by the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE), the average prices of VLCC, suezmax, aframax, Product Carrier came to $85.74m, $53.01m, $44.65m and $31.83m, each, while the ones of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize bulker were $45.47m, $25.03m, $23.72m and $20.37m in April. The average values of 82,000㎥ LPG carrer and 160,000㎥ LNG carrier came to $65.80m and $186.36m while 4,800 teu boxship and 1,700 teu were priced at $41.95m and $23.50m, respectively.
As for newbuilding order intakes, Chinese shipbuilding industry won a total of 68 vessels in April, a 18.07% decrease month-on-month, continuing a downtrend.  
The data also said that Chinese shipyards were placed orders for 20 bulkers in total in April, including two ore carriers, four capesizes, three kamsarmax, eight panamaxes, three handysizes and etc. along with contracts for two PCs, three panamax boxships, two handysize boxships and so on.
