Korea Reinforce Aids for Yards
A policy meeting was held at the Busan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Busan CCI), attended by around 150 people, including Han Jin-Hyun, Vice Minister the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of Korea, Cho Sung-Je, the president of Busan CCI, Lee Young-Hwal, Vice Mayor for Economic Affairs of Busan, Choi Chul-Ahn, administrator at the Small and Medium Business Administration of Busan and Ulsan region and etc. on July 7.
At the meeting, Busan CCI president Cho Sung-Je expressed a concern, saying “Local industries such as shipbuilding, construction and etc. are struggling, which exacerbates difficulties faced by regional economy.”
Businessmen who participated in the meeting suggested various proposals, for instance, ‘Emergency Aid for Stable Management of STX Offshore & Shipbuilding’s Cooperative firms’ and etc., asking for active efforts of the central government.
Vice Minister Han said, “In order for reviving depressed local economy such as shipbuilding industry and etc. whole branches of government are making efforts,” and added, “Through business discussions among related departments, we are determined to reinforce aids for corporations in the form of law revision, policy fund provision and so on.”
