New York-listed Scorpio Tankers revealed huge savings from its eco-design newbuildings, compared with chartered-in non-eco MR tankers for the first three months in 2013, from its latest report.
According to RS Platou Markets, Scorpio earned $20,726 per day for its eco MR tankers during Q1 ending March 31, outstripping chartered MRs’ $16,453 daily rates on average.
Meanwhile, the operating cost of its eco tankers was recorded to be $5,852 daily which is lower than the market average, $6,500 per day.  
Also, Scorpio said its eco tanker to be 30% more efficient than a 2008 vessel in its own fleet.
