DMHI to Build Four LR2 Product Carriers for Greek Company

DSME’s affiliate Daewoo-Mangalia Heavy Industries (DMHI) from Romania has won a contract to build four LR2 product carriers for Greek-based Eastern Mediterranean Maritime.
As TradeWinds reports, Thanassis Martinos of Eastern Mediterranean Maritime confirmed the deal for the four vessels with delivery set for the first half of 2015.
Daewoo-Mangalia Heavy Industries, a joint venture between the well-known shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in Korea and “2 Mai” Mangalia Shipyard in Romania started its operation in 1997. DMHI has been one of the most competitive shipbuilding, conversion & repair shipyards in the Black Sea area.
Presently, the new vessels are being built under supervision and the company is working closely with Det Norske Veritas, Lloyds Register, Germanisher Lloyd, American Bureau of Shipping and Bureau Veritas.
