The Korean shipbuilder is said to be in final talks with SK Shipping-Marubeni for two 180,000CBM newbuildings.
Energy major Total is to secure the tonnage on long-term basis of more than 20 years.
Delivery schedule is reported to be in 2017 while Total wishes to book the newbuildings at current low prices.
Meanwhile, Samsung is also the winner of four 170,000CBM LNG carrier orders from Nigeria LNG.
Korean state financial institutions provided the key financing for the newbuilding project while another Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries is to sign two newbuildings from NLNG.
