Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding has booked a total of three newly-developed fuel-efficient 56,000-dwt bulkers, which improved fuel efficiency by more than 20% comparing with its existing vessels, from several owners.
Besides, including orders for three fuel-efficient 66,000-dwt bulkers, the number of its order record in the fiscal year of 2012 from April 2012 to March 2013 would reach nine newbuildings - three government-ordered public vessels (one training ship, two patrol ships) included.
Deliveries of the recently contracted three 56,000-dwt bulkers appear to be during 2014-2015. Of them one newbuilding is placed by Ambi Shipping, a joint venture between Malaysian Bulk Carriers and Mitsui & Co, which would cost around $26.6m.
