S&P Price rise Mildly in February

The price for secondhand ships has mild rise in the last month with transaction activities keeping stale. It is reported that totally 118 vessels were traded with an average tonnage of 37,736dwt, decreasing by 3.28% and 38.29% separately. The average age for the vessels is 16.62 years old, 55.75% up month on month. According to the statistics, 50 bulkers, 31 tankers, 13 containerships, two MPVs, two dry cargo ships, tow Ro-Ros, two gas carriers, five tugs, three passenger ships and three general cargo ships were transacted in the period.
Thanks to the increase of chartering freight, the prices of secondhand bulkers increase a little. However, the transactions of bulkers decreased mildly with total 50 vessels traded, 21.88% down against last month.
The transaction activities of secondhand tankers have remained stable while the prices increase a little. Totally 31 vessels were changed hand in last month, decreasing by 8.82% month on month.
Ship price of secondhand containership witnessed great drop in February. On the contrary, transactions saw an increase of 30% to 13 vessels.
In February, global new ordering continuing the downturn by 30.54% to 91 vessels, of which Chinese shipyards, Korean shipyards, Japanese shipyard and Singaporean shipyards won 35 vessels, 28 vessels, nine vessels and two vessels.
