Brazil's state-owned energy giant Petrobras revealed that it placed conversion works for oil platforms in China instead of Brazil.
The contract is to convert four oil tankers into floating production, storage and offloading vessels and the work represents less than 3% of the value of the contracts to build FPSOs.
Petrobras shifted construction of the FPSOs overseas due to concerns that local shipyards would not meet delivery deadlines, which accordingly delays production.
However, the company said that Local Content will be strictly followed and the conversion work will be placed in Brazil.
Meanwhile, Petrobras has done work on FPSO conversion in China prior to this.
