Pacific Basin Shipping has bought a newbuilding resale bulker from a Japanese shipyard.

The Hong Kong-listed shipowner has reportedly purchased the 31,600DWT Sanko Venus from Hakodate Dock.

A price of $21.5m is placed on the ship, of which the original owner is Sanko Steamship.

Meanwhile, including the resale, Pacific Basin has recently purchased ships worth $71m in total.

It bought two secondhand handymaxes and a secondhand supramax bulker.
