Eco-Ship enthusiast Scorpio Tankers is forecast to put pen to contracts for more MR PC newbuildings at Korean shipyards.
The New York-listed shipowner already has a huge orderbook of 16 newbuilds, but with cash from equity issues yet to be allied with debt financing, further new Eco-Ship orders are forecast by market experts.
Doug Mavrinac of Jefferies said, “Even after this most recent order, we believe the company still has plenty of dry powder to further expand the fleet through additional vessel acquisitions and/or additional time charter-in agreements in the coming months.”
The owner now holds fixed-price options to order another 14 MR PC newbuilds at SPP Shipbuilding and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.
