China: S&P Volume up 18.5%

According to Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE), the secondhand trading volume nationwide in January totaled at CNY1.86bn ($299.0m), increasing by 18.5% month on month.
SSE said that about 441 vessels of 720,000dwt were changed hand in last month, 38.7% up against last month with an average age of 8.25 year, 2.4% down. Bulk carriers, tankers and containerships occupied 60%, 10% and 2% of the total separately. The average tonnage of bulkers and tankers are 1,693dwt and 1,459dwt, rising by 30.2% and 58.9% respectively.
Besides, domestic scrapping rate also increased by 3.3%. The scrapping price for 15,000-25,000dwt crude oil tanker, 6,000-10,000dwt product oil tanker and 7,000-12,000dwt is $392.78/ldt, $385.88/ldt 和$380.52/ldt respectively.
