Chinese Win 10 Bulk Carriers
China's small-to-medium sized shipbuilders Jiangsu Haitong Offshore Engineering and Hongqiang Heavy Industry were awarded an order for five 15,000-dwt bulkers each.
Deliveries are slated from August 2013 to July 2014, with newbuilding prices unrevealed.
The series bulkers were part of Hengli Group's fuel-efficient newbuilding investment project and will be operated by the group's subsidiary.
Compatriot ZGPT Diesel Heavy Industry signed contracts with both of the shipbuilders on January 31 to supply main engines for 10 newbuildings.
Meanwhile, Jiangsu Haitong has been building hull block of handymax bulker, floating dock to be exported to Singapore, etc. The shipbuilder is aiming to expand business, for instance, it installed 1,100-ton gantry crane to boost capacity in March 2012 and scouted staffs from local large-sized state-owned shipyards, etc.
