China NB Prices Edge down
Newbuilding prices in China saw a mild decrease in January.
According to local ship trading report, during the last month, newbuilding prices of VLCC, suezmax tanker, aframax tanker and product carrier stood at $92.25m, $56.5m, $47.75m and $33.88m, down by 0.94%, 0.66%, 1.29% and 0% each month-on-month.
As for newbuilding prices of bulker segment in January, capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize remained almost the same from the previous month, with $46m, $25.8m, $24.3m and $21m, respectively. Newbuilding price of 82,000-cbm LPG carrier slightly declined by 0.13% m-o-m to $70m.
Newbuilding prices in January remained unchanged in 4,800-teu and 1,700-teu boxships, with $44.75m and $25m, each.
During January, Chinese shipbuilders inked a total of 107 newbuildings, up by 42.67% against the previous month.
10 capesize bulkers, four panamax bulkers, 10 handysize bulkers, three VLCCs, four PCs, four post-panamax containerships and two handysize boxships were newly ordered.
Besides, Chinese shipbuilders contracted for four LNG carriers, one LPG carrier, one semi-submersible barge, 23 newbuildings for official duties, six fishing boats, four heavy lifters, 10 self-unloading bulkers, three offshore platforms two drilling rigs, etc.
