Recently, the specific type of ship has been revealed after the news announcement that the Indonesian shipowners are to conduct a large-scale import of up to 2,500 vessels worth of $5bn from China.
Indonesia is said to import the vessels with displacement of 3,000-5,000 tons and they will be in charge of transportation in the adjacent seas of Indonesia. With consideration of the situation that the country is capable of building only small-sized vessels, Indonesia plans to manufacture other types of vessel, such as tankers, LNG carriers and others of under 50,000DWT, working in close co-operation with China’s shipbuilding companies in the years to come.
Also, Indonesia is expecting China’s shipbuilding companies to construct shipyards or marine equipment factories in Indonesia either jointly or individually and transfer their technology to the country.
Currently, it is said that around 3,000-55,000 dredging vessels are being built in Indonesia and besides that demands for other types of vessels are known to be very high.
