Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction's representative labor union is aggressively seeking to resume new order sales at its Yeongdo shipyard in Busan.
The labor union has announced on January 30 that it turned in a petition to Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO)-affiliated five utility companies, regarding their newbuilding project, which is to jointly place orders for nine 150,000 DWT bulkers.
The petition says, “We left all the internecine struggles behind. Executives and workers have had a hard time due to the largest and protracted shutdown affected by the lack of orders. However, it was a positive turning point for the relationship between executives and workers which was the weakness of Hanjin.”
The labor union of Hanjin had a talk with the owners of Offshore Supply Vessels who visited the Yeongdo yard and made a promise to build high-quality vessels with responsibility and keep the delivery schedule.
