With growing demand from offshore oil and gas development, demand for offshore vessels/facilities in support and logistics segments, including offshore supply vessel, shuttle tanker, FSO, FSRU, etc., also expand, along with increasing orders for offshore drilling/production facilities.
Global AHTS tonnage stood at 2,889 vessels as of November, 2012, while PSV and offshore construction vessel reached 2,160 vessels and 1,105 vessels each, according to Clarkson.
In case of AHTS, Chinese shipbuilders delivered overall 708 vessels, USA completed 428 vessels, Singapore 260 vessels, etc, while US-based shipyards completed 1,050 PSVs, Norway 308 vessels, China 171 vessels, etc. As for offshore construction vessel, 276 vessels, 88 vessels and 80 vessels had been hit the water from shipyards in China, USA and Japan, respectively.
Tonnages in offshore logistics segment, including FSO, shuttle tank, etc., totalled 772 vessels. Offshore accommodation facilities, offshore dredgers and offshore research vessels secure 200 units, 238 vessels and 663 vessels, respectively.
Looking into deliveries by types, 290 vessels delivered in 2009 and reached at the peak, AHTS delivery shows a steady decreasing trend, 261 vessels in 2010, 195 vessels in 2011 and 97 vessels in 2012 (January-November). In case of PSV, 160 vessels, 118 vessels, 77 vessels and 79 vessels were delivered in each year from 2009 to 2012. Five shuttle tankers hit the water in 2010, six vessels in 2011 and five vessels in 2012.
Meanwhile, newbuilding AHTS had 210 orders on the book as of November, 2012, reported Clarkson. Orderbooks of PSV, offshore construction vessel, logistics, accommodation facility, dredger and offshore research vessel stood at 404 vessels, 62 vessels, 51 vessels, 24 units, six vessels and 31 vessels each.
As for orderbook by country, in case of AHTS, China, India and Singapore secured 95 vessels, 28 vessels and 18 vessels each, while China stood at 120 PSVs, USA at 67 vessels and Brasil at 58 vessels. China secured 21 construction vessels on order and Korea has six vessels.
Orderbook of logistics segment, Korea stood at 25 orders, Brasil seven vessels, etc. In case of accommodation facility, China had seven units, Singapore five unis and Malaysia five units on the book.
Asiasis totalled 2012's new order contracted classified by ship types:
▲ AHTS - Nam Cheong of Malaysia contracted 11 vessels, Coastal Contracts booked nine vessels, Yuexin Ocean Engineering of China 10 vesels, India's ABG six vessels, L&T two vessels, Damen of the Netherlands four vessels, STX OSV three vessels and two vessels from Jaya.

▲ LNG-FSRU - Hyundai won two vessels and Wison Offshore & Marine of China was awarded orders for one LNG-FRU and one LNG-FLRSU.
▲ Offshore Accommodation Facility - China's DSIC was placed an order for two semi-submersible accommodation facilities, COSCO contracted one semi-sub facility, Keppel of Singapore one semi-sub facility, Spain's Navantia one floating accommodation facility, Barreras one floating facility, Nam Cheong two accommodation work barges, etc.
