Increases in shipbuilders' share prices and newbuilding prices for offshore vessels are based on recovery of newbuilding prices.
Analyst Park Mu-Hyun of E*Trade Securities said Korean shipbuilders' total drillship orders had grown over the past two years, however, newbuilding prices for drillship stood lower than those from 2007-2008.
He explained as the number of competitors increases along with growing orders, drillship prices did not grow comparatively with increasing drillship orders.
He added that drillship specification did affected drillship prices to grow in 2012.
Park pointed out that competition in drillship market was getting tougher with entrance of Chinese and Singaporean companies into offshore drilling facility market, along with narrowing gaps of drillship building capabilities and new order among Korean Big3.
There are not many of yearly orders for LNG-related offshore plant, he said.
Park emphasized "Offshore plant industry is closely connected with ups and downs of oil price changes, although offshore market gives hopes of steady new orders."
