China Keep Depressed
Amid a depressed global shipping market, China's shipbuilding and its related industries' management situation or performance is still not so satisfied.
According to latest report from the China Association of National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI), Chinese shipbuilding industries' overall newbuilding delivery, during the first eleven months of 2012, declined by 18.2% year-on-year to 50.55m dwt, while new order dropped by 49.4% to 17.04m dwt.
As of the end of November, Chinese shipyards' orderbook stood at 113.35m dwt, down by 30.3% from a year ago and down by 24.4% on the end of 2011.
Meanwhile, Clarkson Research said China's newbuilding delivery and new order marked 60.5m dwt and 16.7m dwt, respectively, during January-November period, while backlog as of the end of November recorded 111.1m dwt. There are slight differences in delivery and orderbook.
As for China's export ship record during the first eleven months, delivery declined by 17.5% year-on-year to 42.76m dwt, new order dropped by 46.9% to 13.34m dwt. And backlog at the end of November decreased 31.3% year-on-year to 93.85m dwt.
Export ships accounted for 84.6%, 78.3% and 82.8% each of China's overall delivery, new order and orderbook.
From January to November, China's 1,647 shipbuilding-related companies over a certain level saw their total production value of completed products increased by 2.9% year-on-year to CNY 719.3bn ($115.5bn).
Among them, shipbuilding industry declined by 1% year-on-year to CNY 542bn, while ship equipment, ship repair and ship conversion all increased by 16.6%, 11.3% and 23.2% to CNY 103.5bn, CNY 16.57bn and CNY 28.5bn, respectively.
Particularly, offshore facility fabrication rose by 19.8% to CNY 24.8bn.
Meanwhile, during the same period, 1,647 companies' total export value of completed products decreased by 11.9% year-on-year to CNY 246.3bn.
Shipbuilding industry dropped by 12.7% year-on-year to CNY 224.8bn, ship equipment grew by 3.4% to CNY 10.03bn, ship repair and ship conversion declined by 3.9% and 14.8% each to CNY 4.09bn and CNY 2.27bn. On the other hand, offshore facility fabrication saw a huge increase by 38.9% to CNY 1.67bn.
